4 Reasons Your Church Needs More Interns

Updated: Apr 15, 2022

All churches need external support in their day-to-day operations. Every church has a robust intern recruiting program where they recruit interns for their church operations. Internship programs are a great way to give people a positive experience about your church.

The internship opportunities are usually availed by university students that have the rule to do an internship in a reputable organization, firm, or church for a specific period of time. If you haven’t focused on having a strong intern recruit program in your church, now is the time to pay focus on this.

These are some of the reasons why your church needs more interns!

Leadership opportunities

Having a strong internship recruitment program is an opportunity where your staff can also get benefitted. If there are interns in a church, there is going to be a manager, a leader, who is going to lead these interns.

Your ministry will get a chance to showcase their leadership capabilities which is a great way to analyze who can fill the important roles of the Church in near future. Managing a team of interns helps the staff to be good team players, train their interns and get the best out of them while being a thoughtful leader.

Staffing pipeline

When churches have interns on board, they can also assess who can be part of a permanent job position in this church. Anyone who is doing an internship with you for 6-months, a year, or two will be well aware of all operations. He will be well trained and a pro in his job. You can also pipeline your future safe in your interns instead of going through the hassle of hiring someone from outside.

Good experience, good word of mouth!

Having a good experience working in a church is always a good word of mouth. Even if an intern doesn’t want to work with you for a longer permanent position, he/she is going to work for another Church. Interns that have been trained by your church ministry and working for another church are always going to attract attention towards your church.

Also, interns are living word of mouth for your church. They are going to say things about your church and its services to their family, friends, and circle and that is going to be beneficial for you.

Divided Workload

When you have interns in your ministry, the workload is divided. There are a lot of tasks, projects, and operations going on at the same time, and at times, it becomes hard to complete them successfully. The basic purpose of the internship is to learn tasks and projects practically and you can divide the workload. It will not only train and make them better at the job given but will also help you focus on other projects.
